Pervis Payne’s execution date was supposed to set on December 3, 2020 however Governor Bill Lee extended his execution to April 9, 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Payne was accused of a crime that he did not commit back in June 27th 1987; Pervis stumbled across a crime scene and, as he was trying to aid the victim, he was mistaken for the attacker. The prosecution used racial stereotypes and hid important info during his trial. He has been on death row for about 3 decades and has steadily maintained his innocence. Don’t let this innocent man die!
