On December 3, 2020, Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn) posted a nasty tweet, quote:
"China has a 5,000 year history of cheating and stealing. Some things will never change...".
Chinese Americans and their friends were shocked, saddened, angered, and deeply disturbed by this blatant racist attack. As Americans, we were also ashamed by the lack of basic knowledge of human history by a presumably well-educated US senator.
This is a pure open and ignorant insult to all Chinese, who constitute almost 1/5 of the world’s current population. This type of ruthless attack on a particular ethnic group, their culture and ancestors, is a cruel insult and should never be tolerated.
She owes a sincere apology to 3.8 million Chinese Americans, their families and friends.
